All-Star Qualifying
Here's how it will all work:
A room name "AMS All-Star Qualifying" (under league sessions) will open up at 7:30 pm ET. At this point, you may come in and practice.
We will have open practice until/unless someone is qualifying. At this time, we will create a qualifying order based on first come, first serve and volunteering. You don't have to go first just because you were first on the room or on TeamSpeak. You just have the option to go first, and may go at any time in the qualifying order.
At 7:30 pm ET, we will allow qualifying. The first people who were in the race room and on TeamSpeak at 7:30 pm ET, will have the opportunity to qualify at this point. As people come into the room and on TeamSpeak, they will be placed at the back of the qualifying order.
We will make every attempt possible to give each driver an opportunity to qualify. But, once the session is over at 9:20 pm ET, no more qualifying attempts will be made. So, please, show up as soon as you can.
You only have 1 attempt at qualifying, although, if you mess up on your outlap, you may re-attempt qualifying as long as you don't begin lap 1.
Also, we ask that all drivers come on TeamSpeak during qualifying. It's not mandatory, but generally helps with communication.
Procedure and Laps
You will run a total of 3 laps. Making a 4-tire pit stop on Lap 2.
Cars will go out one at a time. Admins will let the next driver know when he can go make his run.
Order will be based on when people join. If you are confused of the way to qualify, just ask.
Procedure:
- Pull out of pit road and make your warm up lap.
- Start Lap 1. (You are now on your qualifying time.)
- Complete Lap 1.
- Start Lap 2.
- On Lap 2, Enter Pit Road. (Pit Road Speed is 55 mph. You MUST be under this speed. If iRacing busts you for speeding, your qualifying attempt will be DQ'd)
- Note: Coming Down Pit Road, Lap 2 Will End and Lap 3 Will Begin.
- Make a Mandatory 4-Tire Pit Stop.
- Exit Pit Road.
- Complete Lap 3.
- Pull over on the apron on the backstretch and exit your car.
- Done.
Qualifying Order
The qualifying order, as in the order in which each driver makes their qualifying attempt, will be based on the order you join the room. In the "chat box" on iRacing, it logs who joins the session, and who does it first, second, third, etc. We will send you out in that order. The order doesn't matter what so ever. It is just there to be an easy way of doing it. Rather than having everyone want to be the next one to go out. However, if you manually disconnect from the room, you forfeit your spot in line to qualify, and will be placed at the end of the order when you reconnect. (Although if no one is officially qualifying at the moment and you want to qualify, speak up and we will clear the track)
Voice Chat
In the room, when a car is on the track making their qualifying attempt, voice chat may be disabled. This may arise a slight difficulty if a driver needs to talk to an admin. But, we feel it's in the best interest to the person qualifying that no one can talk and disrupt their focus. Voice chat will be re-enabled in between qualifying runs when it can be.
Also, if you are in TeamSpeak, and want silence during qualifying, you can move to an empty room or ask someone to move you.
Penalties
If you speed on pit road, your lap times won't count (iRacing won't count them). Therefore, you will have no times. For people who do speed, you will be placed at the back of the field, and of people with a speeding penalty, you will be ordered based on AMS Cup Series points.
The times will be run in practice, so you can brush the wall and get an incident and it will still count your times. However, NO WALL RIDING (continuously riding the wall) will be allowed. This will result in your lap times being invalidated and you will start last in the race.
Grid Order
Grid order after qualifying will be slated by each individual drivers 3 laps times added together, then in order from fastest to slowest. Speeding penalties will be put in behind them, then drivers who did not attempt a lap will be placed, with the drivers advancing from the Showdown the last ones. Any other penalties or drivers will be start behind them.
1. Qualified Drivers (Fastest to Slowest)
2. Speeding Penalty Drivers (In order of AMS Cup Series Points)
3. Driver Who Did Not Attempt a Qualifying Run
4. Showdown Drivers
5. Any Other Penalty Drivers
